You will use ergonomic office chairs basically to prevent your suffering from back pain or spinal problems. However, the requirements will vary from person to person and you should have some idea about the options available so that you can select the appropriate chair for your purpose. There are multiple types of lumbar back supports that are available for your chair and it depends on your requirement and physical condition on the basis of which the selection will be made.
Most of the ergonomic chairs are built in a way that they have in built curvature support. To verify whether your chair is in perfect order, sit erect on the chair with your head, your spine, and your buttock all in perfect alignment. Thereafter lay back resting against the seatback. If you find that the curve of the ergonomic chair follows naturally the curve of your lower back, you may consider that your chair is perfectly all right. However, you must test this type of chair before use since the lumbar support cannot be readjusted later.
Conversely, you can dispense with your traditional leather office chairs and opt for the adjustable chairs. In these types of chairs, the seatback can be adjusted by lowering or raising the same according to the convenience of the user. Here also your aim should be to see that the curve your lower spine gets a good and comfortable support from the curve on the back of the chair. Adjustable office chairs are good when multiple users use the same chair in an office.
